Flexibility is Key!
The work can come to us or we can come to the work.
One of Merrick's first steps when working with a new employer is to have a face-to-face meeting held at your company. One or both of our Work Procurement Managers will come to your site to learn about your business. They will tour the work area, looking for tasks that might fit the skills and interests of an individual or a group of people with disabilities.
There often are no formal job postings for the work. Instead, we spot the simple, repetitive tasks that take the time of your employees away from other duties. The Merrick representative will then discuss the possibilities with you, determine if there is a good match with your company and Merrick, then make a formal proposal.
You can be as involved as you wish in choosing the right candidate(s) for the job. Meet and/or interview several people or rely on us to make a good match. In addition, you can choose how you wish to employ people from Merrick. You can either hire directly or you can contract with Merrick. Our Work Procurement Managers can discuss with you the options regarding hiring and wages in greater detail.
When you decide to work with Merrick, you not only receive an excellent employee(s), you also receive a job coach to ensure that the work meets or exceeds your expectations. The job coach is a Merrick employee who works to train and provide on-going support to the person(s) you hire from Merrick. The level of job coaching needed can vary. Some people only need initial training and regular visits while others need more intensive support, such as with a job crew. Either way, Merrick and its job coach will work to ensure a successful partnership.
Remember... The first step is for us to find each other. If you are interested in learning more about options in this area, please contact one of our Work Procurement managers:
